80s BFs under the cut. You’ve been warned.

They come clattering through the doorway without much mind for who can hear, and pick a spot on the entryway table to continue their frantic game of strip poker. Only that the bets are off, and Felix has already had one too many strong root beers. Turbo, of course, can bluff a hand any day, and seems to know how to use them to get the handyman’s button-up off even through the haze of inebriation.

It’s impossible not to know how many is ‘too many’ when Felix giggles at the loud, ceramic shatter on the linoleum floor, or even how he ignores the paranoid glance Turbo gives toward the apartment’s front door in favor of a kiss.

They’re both a mess by the time their small bodies hit the mattress—Turbo with his jumpsuit half way down his hips and Felix in his undergarments. The helmet came off next, with a mess of black hair following in tiny, static-y clicks, and Felix hardly seems to mind the smell of grease and gasoline when he dug his hands into the nape of Turbo’s mop. He tugs Turbo down to with a click of their teeth but follows with a softer press of lips, and an attempt at rolling them over.

Turbo has none of it, however, and while he is quite pleased with how Felix seems to dote on him—in all his wonder, and all his sex appeal—he’s not about to relinquish the position he holds over the goody little sprite. At least not until Felix (with a delirious giggle) stops kissing him in favor of pulling him close. Not that he appears to have any sense of direction with this, but when a soft gust of air gently ghosts over Turbo’s ear, the racer goes rigid. His muscles quake, and a tingle blooms at the dimples of his spine, then Felix nuzzles against him with a pleased hum.

“Watch what you’re doin’ there, Fix-it,” Turbo mutters.

He sounds agitated, but if he could be honest (and he could), he would admit that he’d rather enjoyed the feeling. But for now, he’s in charge. Of himself, and of Felix, and of this whole damned thing—never you mind the smell of alcohol or cheap cologne (a guy can still try to mask the smell of his garage).

But that’s when Felix leans back with a dopy little grin—hardly a signal at all, if Turbo were to recount that night (but he never will)—and he nudges his knee right in between Turbo’s legs, where he leans his weight and knocks them both over into the center of the bed.

Felix seems pleased, but in Turbo’s mind, he looks victorious. And that simply will not do.

And this is where I realize I could have spent the last 500 words writing my Cultural Studies Exam. Thank you ladies and gentlemen. You’ve been very good to me.
